Overview:

Benkert finished his career at Virginia, where he played in 27 career games, completed 534 passes, for 5817 passing yards, with 46 passing touchdowns, 21 interceptions, and a completion percentage of 57.7. He has good size, good speed, he has a strong arm, good accuracy, and has good instincts. He does not rush the ball out too quickly, he does not stare down one receiver, he distributes the ball to all of his receivers, and backs, and is a tough nosed player. He has good patience in the pocket, and allows his receivers to get open, he is also very poised in the pocket, and has good pocket awareness. He fits the ball into tight places with ease, he has a good deep ball, and is a good passing quarterback when rolling out of the pocket. On the other hand, he is not known as a running quarterback, he tends to take too many sacks, he underthrows and overthrows some receivers at times, and he missed all of 2015 while at East Carolina due to a knee injury. With that said, I view Benkert as a late day 2, to early day 3 pick when it is all said and done.
