Overview:

Phillips had a very productive career at Illinois, playing in 31 career game, he had 88 tackles, 25.5 for loss, and 12.0 sacks, proving to be a dominant edge rusher. He has good edge rushe size, he has good speed, is a sure fire tackler, is a good pass rusher, and gets good pressure on the quarterback. He is also a defensive play maker, a hard hitter, a tough nosed player, and is very experienced. On the other hand, while he has good speed, he does not have elite edge rush speed, but that does not hurt his game, and he missed 6 games in his first season at Illinois due to an injury. With that said, I see Phillips as a late day 2 pick, to a early day 3 pick at worst, where he will become a key rotational player for whoever selects him.
