Jason’s Official 2018 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield

Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma

Scouting Report:

Mayfield finished his career at Oklahoma, by winning the 2017 Heisman trophy, he played in 48 career games, where he completed 1026 passes, for 14607 passing yards, with 131 passing touchdowns, and 30 interceptions. He was also a prolific runner, as he had 404 rushes, for 1083 rushing yards, and 21 rushing touchdowns. He has good speed, he is very accurate, he has a strong arm, he has a good deep ball, and is very athletic. He is a good scrambling quarterback, as well as being very mobile. he also has the ability to turn negative plays into positives when running with the ball. He is a good passer on slant routes, he is also a good passer when on the run, and he is poised under pressure. On the other hand, he does not have the best size, as he came in at just over 6’0 at the Senior Bowl, he tends to overthrow his receivers at times, he was primarily a shotgun quarterback, and he tends to throw into double and triple coverage. With that said, I view Mayfield as a late day 2, to early day 3 pick, but I expect him to end up being among the first 4 quarterbacks taken this April.
