Jason’s Official 2018 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Georgia DT Trenton Thompson

Trenton Thompson, DT, Georgia

Scouting Report:

Thompson finished his career at Georgia, where he played in 38 career games, had 127 tackles, 15.5 for loss, and 5.5 sacks. He also had 3 pass breakups. He has great size, is a tackling machine, a run stuffer, and a hard hitter. He gets good pressure on the quarterback, and is a good pass rusher. He also has good speed for his size, is a very relentless defender, creates havoc on defense, and is a defensive play maker. He also commands double teams, and usually not blockable. He easily gets through the offensive line by bull rushing his way through the line, in pursuit of the ball carrier. On the other hand, he is not known as a big sack guy, and he has issues with speedy quarterbacks, and running backs at times, but that does not hurt his game. With that all said, I see Thompson being a late 1st-round, to early 2nd-round pick when it is all said and done.
