Jason’s Official 2018 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Clemson WR Deon Cain

Deon Cain, WR, Clemson

Scouting Report:

Cain finished his career at Clemson by playing in 42 career games, where he had 130 receptions, for 2040 receiving yards, and 20 receiving touchdowns. He has great size, along with great speed, is a great pass catcher, and a scoring machine. He was a go-to receiver for Clemson, he is a good blocking receiver, he is also a good route runner, and a great deep threat. He always seems to be wide open, as he consistently beats his defender, and is very elusive. He also makes defender miss with ease, breaks tackles with ease, and is tough to take down. On the other hand, he does not an explosive burst like other top receivers, but that does not hurt his game. There have also been some issues with Cain failing a drug test before the 2015-2016 Orange Bowl game, in which he was suspended for that game. With that said, Cain is a pure playmaker, and I expect him to end up being a day 2 pick when it is all said and done.
