Jason’s Official 2018 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Central Michigan TE Tyler Conklin

Tyler Conklin, TE, Central Michigan

Scouting Report:

Conklin finished his career at Central Michigan, where he played in 34 career games, had 83 receptions, for 1159 receiving yards, and 11 receiving touchdowns. He has good size, he has good speed, is a solid pass catcher, and has good hands. He is a good run blocker, and he opens holes up for his backs. He was a go-to receiver for Central Michigan, he put up good receiving yard numbers, and got into the endzone quite a bit. He is also a tough nosed player, and has good instincts. He is also a good route runner, a good deep threat, and a good redzone threat. He also breaks tackles, he makes defenders miss, and is tough to bring down. On the other hand, he missed part of the 2017 season due to a foot injury, and while he has good speed, he does not have elite tight end speed, but that does not hurt his game. With that said, I view Conklin as a day 3 pick when it is all said and done.
