Jason’s Official 2018 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Ball State DE Anthony Winbush

Anthony Winbush, DE, Ball State

Scouting Report:

Winbush finished his career at Ball State, where he played in 45 career games, had 99 tackles, 32.5 for loss, 25.0 sacks, 1 pass breakup, 9 forced fumbles, and 2 fumbles recovered. He has good edge rush size, he has really good speed, and was a tackling machine, as well as a sack machine. He is also a relentless defender, and a ferocious defender. He is a tough nosed player, and has good instincts. He gets good pressure on the quarterback, and is a good pass rusher. He is very powerful for his size, and he gets a good push on the offensive line. He is a defensive play maker, and a difference maker on defense. He uses his speed to get around, and fly right by the offensive tackles, while in pursuit of the quarterback. He also uses his strength to get through the offensive line. On the other hand, he over pursues at times, he has issues with fast backs, and quarterbacks at times, and due to his size frame, he will likely have to be a part time edge rusher, or convert to being a 3-4 outside linebacker. With that said I view Winbush as a day 3 pick when it is all said and done.
