Jason’s Official 2017 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Tulane DT Tanzel Smart

Tanzel Smart, DT, Tulane

Scouting Report:

Smart was highly productive at Tulane, where he played in 48 games, had 190 tackles, an impressive 40.5 for loss, and 9.5 sacks. He has good size, he is very experienced, he is a run stuffer, and he is a hard hitter. He is also a sure fire tackler, he is also a good pass rusher, and he gets good pressure on the quarterback. On the other hand, he does not have great speed, and he is not known for getting many sacks. With that said, I see Smart as a day 3 pick, likely in the 4th-5th round range when it is all said and done.
